Court Grants Restraining Order on Stay-at-Home Order
April 27, 2020
A Clay County Circuit Court ruled this afternoon in favor of State Rep. Darren Bailey (R-109th District), who filed a lawsuit against Governor J.B. Pritzker’s stay-at-home Executive Order. The court granted a restraining order to temporarily block the extended stay-at-home restrictions that are set to go in effect on May 1. Rep. Bailey’s lawsuit contended that the stay-at-home order exceeded the Governor’s authority and is a violation of state residents’ civil rights.
At his daily press briefing, Governor Pritzker indicated that his office will fight the lawsuit and will act swiftly to ensure the safety of Illinois residents is protected until the suit is resolved.
