FDA Releases First-Ever Medical Device Shortage List

On Friday, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) released its first-ever medical device shortage list, which includes including personal protective equipment (PPE) – such as masks, surgical gowns, and gloves – certain ventilators and testing supplies. The FDA says the list reflects the categories of devices that it determined to be in shortage at this time, and will be updated as the pandemic evolves.
