House Passes COVID-19 Relief Package
March 27, 2020
This afternoon by a voice vote, the U.S. House passed the $2.2 trillion CARES (Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security) Act. The U.S. Senate passed the legislative package on March 25. President Trump says he will swiftly sign the bill.
The IHA-supported legislation includes significant funding and support for hospitals and health systems, totaling over $100 billion.
U.S. Senators Dick Durbin (IL-D) and Tammy Duckworth (IL-D) sent a letter today to Illinois hospitals recognizing their heroic efforts and those of the healthcare workforce in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The letter highlights important provisions in the CARES Act that will directly support hospitals dealing with the unprecedented challenges of this virus.
