IDPH Update: Inpatient Elective Surgeries, Procedures

June 19, 2020

Today, the Illinois Dept. of Public Health (IDPH) issued the following update on the issue of elective surgeries and procedures.

“At this time, the data suggests Illinois has sufficient capacity to meet current demands. Therefore, hospitals may resume inpatient elective surgeries regardless of meeting the above 20% thresholds. Please continue to observe the infection control methods outlined in the April 24, 2020 guidance. IDPH will continue to monitor epidemiologic trends closely. If the trends shift to indicate that Illinois’ health system is becoming stressed, hospitals may be asked to reinstitute the 20% thresholds to meet COVID-19 demands.”
