IHA Alert: Contact Your Legislators on Telehealth

Today, the Illinois General Assembly will consider a COVID-19 package on healthcare – Senate Bill 1864 – which includes important provisions on temporarily extending coverage and payments for telehealth services. In an unprecedented and extraordinary legislative session during the pandemic, lawmakers are moving very quickly to take action before they adjourn very late tonight. Members are urged to contact their state Senators and Representatives now and ask them to vote Yes on Senate Bill 1864 – House Amendment 5.

Senate Bill 1864 – House Amendment 5 includes several provisions related to telehealth coverage during the COVID-19 pandemic.  Under the legislation, health insurance issuers are required to comply with the Governor’s Executive Order on telehealth through May 1, 2021, while the Medicaid telehealth expansion may be extended for one year following the end of the public health emergency.
