State, National, Global COVID-19 Updates

The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) announced today 828 new COVID-19 cases and 30 deaths. The total number of cases in the state is 144,013 in 101 counties, with a total of 6,951 deaths. IDPH says that in the past 24 hours, 33,090 test specimens have been processed, with a positivity rate of 2.5%. The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity rate from June 24 to June 30 is 2.6%. Updated COVID-19 hospitalization statistics had not been released by IDPH as of 3 p.m.

Today’s Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) figures show more than 2.6 million confirmed and presumptive positive cases of COVID-19 in the U.S., with 127,299 deaths.

Today’s WHO Coronavirus Disease Dashboard shows nearly 10.4 million COVID-19 cases globally, with more than 503,800 deaths. The Region of the Americas (includes the U.S.) continues to lead the world with more than 5.2 million cases and more than 249,000 deaths.
